Author Shirley Welch with the collaboration of the Eagle County Historical Society has written a history of Colorado's Eagle River Valley. The history is depicted with photographs dating back to the 1800's. The book provides a colorful picture of pioneer mountain life. The Eagle River starts in the high Rocky Mountains, cuts through a spectacular gorge, and finally flows into the Colorado River. The inhabitants of the valley have always depended upon the river and the book chronicles the history of their lifes and livelihoods. A long time resident of the valley, Welch also writes fiction and living histories for the Mountain Hospice patients.
